It has recently come to light that the citizens of Flint, Michigan have been provided with water contaminated with lead after the city switched their water supply from Lake Huron to the Flint River. The town of Flint has only had access to contaminated water for the past two years. All the citizens of Flint have been exposed to lead levels in the water, with 6,000 to 12,000 children testing positive for severely high levels of lead in their blood. An outbreak of Legionnaire’s Disease from the poisoned water has already claimed 10 lives. Since this tragedy has come to light, several trucking companies have risen to the occasion to provide aid to the citizens of Flint.
Trucking Companies Donate Efforts to Help the Citizens of Flint
The Ohio-based regional truckload carrier Jet Express launched a campaign that is collecting bottles of clean water to send to Flint residents. The president of Jet Express, Kevin Burch, said that he will donate a truck and trailer and drivers’ services to ship the donated water to the residents of Flint. “I tell you what, that town is hurting,” says Burch.
In another round of support, third-party logistics provider ROAR Logistics teamed up with the H2O Campaign run by True Bethel Church from Buffalo, New York. The campaign is accepting donations of bottled water at the True Bethel Church’s main location, and ROAR Logistics is ensuring that the donated water gets shipped to the residents of Flint. “Transportation is our business and we’re going to provide the truck, the man-power and expertise necessary to safely load and transport the clean water bound for Michigan,” stated Robert Rich III, president of ROAR Logistics.
If you are looking to donate driver services to help the citizens of Flint, contact the The Buffalo Grove (Illinois) Police Department and the Illinois Truck Enforcement Association.
