Diesel prices finally drop, which is good news for truckers!
Good news for truckers and trucking companies! Diesel prices fell slightly last week after weeks and weeks of consistent increases in the United States. This information comes from the Energy Department.
The Statistics of Diesel Prices Nationwide
The average price of on-highway diesel fuel fell half a cent last week. This means it dropped on average to $2.462 a gallon at the pump. Even though diesel fuel prices are steadily rising across the board, last week’s average is still 43.3 cents cheaper than it had been during this same week in 2015.
The Largest Increase and Decrease in Diesel Prices Nationwide
Diesel prices were down in most regions across the United States. The largest decrease in prices occurred in the Lower Atlantic at 1.4 cents. The largest price increase nationwide last week was in the Central Atlantic region at 0.5 cents.
Regular Gasoline Stats
The average price of regular gasoline fell by a larger amount last week. It experienced a 4.6 cent drop and costed $2.353 per gallon. Surprisingly, this price is roughly 46 cents cheaper than it was during the same time in 2015. The largest drop in the prices of regular gasoline occurred in the Midwest. A gallon was 9.6 cents cheaper than it was the week before. The Rocky Mountain region experienced a very minimal increase in prices, with an only 0.8 cent jump. However, the UK’s vote on the referendum colloquially known as Brexit could have long standing ramifications on oil prices world wide, meaning that some kind of large shift is imminent.
