How can you find snacks that are in it for the long haul and full of protein to keep you feeling full? Here are some high protein snack ideas for your next trip.
Pumpkin Seeds are Perfect
Only one cup of pumpkin seeds has 12 grams of protein, making them a great high protein snack. Roast them in your oven before a trip and store them in a plastic storage bag or reusable container to keep them fresh. To flavor your pumpkin seeds, you can add cinnamon sugar or pumpkin spice for a sweet treat, or salt and pepper for something more savory.
Greek Yogurt is Great
The simple snack of Greek yogurt and granola or fresh berries is an excellent healthy and high protein snack to chase a grumbling belly away. One container of Greek yogurt has a whopping 17 grams of protein. If you add in granola, which can have about 10 grams of protein per 100 gram serving, you can boost the protein amount even higher. Next time you shop for food, be sure to check out multiple granola options. There are brands that add extra protein or fiber into their granolas to make them even more filling.
Mixed Nuts
Mixed nuts are a wonderful high protein snack for truckers that don’t always have time to prepare in advance. They are available at almost every convenience store, so you shouldn’t have any trouble grabbing a bag when you need one. Nuts are full of nutrients like fat and protein. One cup of roasted nuts has about 27 grams of protein, so they make a great choice when you are hungry and looking for an extra boost. If you want to save a little money, purchase mixed nuts in a bulk container and scoop individual servings into plastic food storage bags.
