5 Things To Keep In Your Truck For A Long Road Trip

Truck drivers travel all across the country so it is important to be prepared for a long road trip!

As a truck driver, your job consists of taking long road trips on a regular basis. You may be in your truck for longer than you are at home sometimes, so it almost becomes a second home for you. Because of this, it is important that you pack well for your trips because driving is unpredictable. Here are five things to keep in your truck for a long road trip.

Extra Clothes

You may be on the road for days at a time so you always want to pack extra clothing. It is important that the clothes you pack to drive in are comfortable. Make sure that you have enough socks and underwear to last the entire road trip, and maybe even some extras as well. Plan your outfits according to the weather throughout the entire trip. If you are going to be traveling through different states with different weather conditions, pack accordingly.

Personal Items

Make sure you pack the essentials that you need on a day to day basis. You want to pack all of your hygiene and grooming products. In addition, make sure you have any medications that you have to take. If you wear contacts, it’s a good idea to bring an extra pair, along with your contact case and solution. Things like wet wipes and paper towels are good to keep in case of a spill. It may also be a good idea to pack a pillow and a blanket.

Trucking Needs

You want to make sure you don’t forget your GPS system for your road trip, whether you have a separate one or use your phone. You should bring work gloves along with you for unloading your truck. It is also important to have an emergency kit that has tools such as tire chains, road flares, screwdrivers, a tire pressure gauge, etc. It is also good to have an emergency first aid kit handy.

Snacks

Since you will be on the road for hours at a time, snacks are important to satisfy your hunger and keep you alert on the road. More importantly, you should bring healthy snacks along rather than junk food. Junk food can make you even more tired, while healthy snacks such as bananas, granola bars, and apples can keep your hunger to a minimum and also give you energy.

Entertainment

The last thing you need for your trucking journey is a source of entertainment. Whether you prefer to listen to music while driving or listen to an audio book, don’t forget to bring those along. You can bring along tablets, laptops, books, and anything else that keeps you entertained for those driving breaks.
