As we look towards the future, we think we see self-driving trucks like Freightliner’s Inspiration leading the way to a solution to the driver shortage.

In May of 2015, Freightliner revealed their newest truck model: the Freightliner Inspiration. The sleek new truck was revealed dramatically atop the Hoover Dam in Nevada. Not only did the truck have a stunning design, but it also had a very important new feature: self-automation. The Freightliner Inspiration is the first self-driving truck in the United States to be able to legally drive on the road. The impressive truck also won a Good Design Award from the  Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in the Transportation category, which puts it alongside other innovations such as the Tesla Model S, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, and the BMW X6.
