Turn on the Heater
You heard us right. Turn ON the heater. While this may sound unusual when heat is the cause of your problem, it’s actually an effective way to get your truck engine back to a more normal temperature.
By turning on the heater of your truck, you draw heat away from your engine, and instead bring it into the interior of your vehicle. The extra heat can certainly cause discomfort for yourself, but it goes a long way towards protecting your truck’s engine from excess heat.
Pull Over, If Necessary
If you’ve tried turning on the heater, as well as turning on the fan, but it’s not doing any good, you should pull over and give your truck a break. Turning the truck off will give the engine time to cool down naturally.
After the engine has had sufficient time to cool, take a look at the radiator and see if it has any blockages or leaks. If everything looks good, give your truck engine some coolant and then start the engine once more. Monitor the temperature gauge to determine whether or not your engine is doing better now.
