North American Truck Market Sees Big Gains in Class 8 and Other Sales
North America’s trucking market, compared to the markets in other locations such as Europe and Latin America, is doing exceptionally well. Unlike those other regions, which saw drops in overall sales figures last year, North America has seen impressive figures; Daimler Trucks alone sold 496,000 trucks in 2014 alone. These sales helped to bring North America within inches of the largest trucking market on the global scale, Asia. The main strengths of the North American market seem to be in the Class 8 sales arena. In 2014, sales of Class 8 trucks gained a whopping 19 percent over the past year in terms of units sold. Class 6-7 trucks also saw a marked increase, up 12 percent from the previous year.
