New Rule Requires 30 Hours of Driving Time for Entry Level Training

Entry level truckers will soon be required to complete 30 hours of training.

On March 8th, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration was set to publish the proposed rule which would change CDL requirements. If made final, this rule will make it necessary for new truckers to complete a core training curriculum before receiving their CDL. This curriculum includes many changes, as well as the new rule that entry level truckers have at least 30 hours of behind-the-wheel training before being issued a CDL. Read the rest of this entry »

Freightliner’s Inspiration Truck is the Future of Transportation

As we look towards the future, we think we see self-driving trucks like Freightliner’s Inspiration leading the way to a solution to the driver shortage.

In May of 2015, Freightliner revealed their newest truck model: the Freightliner Inspiration. The sleek new truck was revealed dramatically atop the Hoover Dam in Nevada. Not only did the truck have a stunning design, but it also had a very important new feature: self-automation. The Freightliner Inspiration is the first self-driving truck in the United States to be able to legally drive on the road. The impressive truck also won a Good Design Award from the  Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in the Transportation category, which puts it alongside other innovations such as the Tesla Model S, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, and the BMW X6. Trucking Companies Support Flint Residents During Water Crisis

Several trucking companies have donated trucks and driver’s services to deliver fresh water to Flint.

It has recently come to light that the citizens of Flint, Michigan have been provided with water contaminated with lead after the city switched their water supply from Lake Huron to the Flint River. The town of Flint has only had access to contaminated water for the past two years. All the citizens of Flint have been exposed to lead levels in the water, with 6,000 to 12,000 children testing positive for severely high levels of lead in their blood. An outbreak of Legionnaire’s Disease from the poisoned water has already claimed 10 lives.
